3. Application                                                                                            

Widely used in papermaking, chemistry, rubber, Pharmaceutical, fertilizer, refractories and building materials etc

1). In Magnesium Sulphate production, Magnesium Oxide MgO is a main raw material. Star Grace MgO great advantage is lower SiO2 content. That means the reactions are complete with less impurity. As a result, the yield of magnesium sulphate by 1MT MgO can be increased 200kg more than other source, and it is roughly 5MT/20’GP more. 

2). In Abrasive production, Magnesium Oxide MgO can be used in abrasive stones. As the owner of magnesite, we have the best quality ore with low SiO2 and CaO content to calcine MgO powder, which is suitable to use in manufacture abrasive stones and grinding wheels. In the production, low CaO can make the stones hard. Low SiO2 can make the stones smooth. And moderate LOI can shorten the setting time. 

3). In Agriculture, Magnesium Oxide MgO is used as magnesium supplement in compound fertilizer. Magnesium is an essential element for plant growth, as the central core of the chlorophyll molecule in plant tissue.

4). In Feed additives, Magnesium Oxide MgO is recognized as an essential nutrient for sheep or cows. Magnesium supplementation is needed to prevent hypomagnesaemia (grass tetany-staggers)

and milk fever (when calcium is also low) in beef (and dairy) cows from calving to peak milk production.

5). In construction, Magnesium Oxide MgO is used in produce industry floor, building boards and cement. Magnesium board is more and more popular in construction.  

6). In Refractory, Magnesium Oxide MgO e is used as a refractory agent of crucibles.

7). In Water treatment, Magnesium Oxide MgO is used to remove the hydrogen sulfide of wastewater.

8). In Civil Engineering, Magnesium Oxide MgO has high capacity to absorb water to improve the soil coherence. 

9). In Hydrometallurgy industry, Magnesium Oxide MgO is used to precipitate the hydroxides of metals from acid leachate solutions of their respective ores

10). In Soil Decontamination, Magnesium Oxide MgO is used to get rid of heavy metals of soil. 

11). In power station and steel industry, Magnesium Oxide MgO is used as desulfurizer

12). In Rubber industry, MgO is used as filler, acid acceptor, anti-scorch ingredient, curing acid.

用途:轻烧镁被广泛用于于建材、化工、冶金、医药等多个领域,是生产防火板、轻质隔墙板、硫酸镁、造纸、除硫工艺、钢厂护炉溅渣等的理想材料。将菱镁矿、水镁石和由海水或卤水中提取的氢氧化镁经800~1000℃左右煅烧,使其分解排出CO2或H2O,即得到轻烧镁粉(Caustic calcined magnesia),也称轻烧氧化镁、苛性氧化镁或轻烧镁,俗称苦土粉。轻烧镁粉质地疏松、化学活性大,既可以用于制造镁水泥、菱镁建材制品、隔热保温材料等,又是二步煅烧法生产优质镁砂的中间产物 。
菱镁矿加热时,600℃左右出现等轴晶系方镁石;到650℃时等轴晶系方镁石消失,有非等轴方镁石产生;850℃时等轴晶系方镁石完全消失。这些方镁石晶格,由于出现点状缺陷和位错而具有较高的表面能。MgO的晶格比MgCO3晶格群水不了多少,因而晶格间孔隙增大,气孔率高,比表面积大,且具有高的活性。
轻烧镁粉呈淡黄、淡褐色粉末,粒度大多在-100目以下,方镁石结晶很小(<3μm),真比重3.07~3.22,积堆积密度0.8~1.2g/cm3,折射率1.68~1.70,晶格常数大(α=0.4212)晶格缺陷多,质地松脆,具有孔结构,反应活性大,易进行固相反应或烧结,与水作用生Mg(OH)2而硬化,有粘结能力。由菱镁矿煅烧而成的轻烧氧化镁粉,体积收缩5%左右;通常由于未完全分解而残留有3%~5%的CO2。
菱镁矿的轻烧温度、轻烧时间对轻烧镁粉的活性有一定影响。将菱镁矿分别于600、650、700、750、800、850和900℃进行煅烧,在15~90分钟内700、750和800℃的煅烧温度对轻烧镁粉的活性没有明显的影响;600、650、850、900℃对活性的影响特别显著,600、650℃煅烧时,活性随着时间的延长明显增加;850、900℃煅烧时活性随着烃烧时间延长而明显下降。
